hope

the candle called to the darkness

it was a tedious night

it was half past later

the regime of the night sky was ruling

the regime of the joke

had laughed itself hollow

had drunk every echo

from every light switch

which alternated lost shadows

with corners and halls

like lost kids in malls

like the lost I was feeling

just as

the darkness brightened

WOW! Russell, I had to read this one aloud a few times, it was that good.

I wish you'd offer an audio recording of your voice for us. It'd be great to hear you read this one.:)

erThanks Aurora! I'd love to podcast my poems. I've been recording them and have a file full of poems ready to go if I can just get the time to learn how. Odeo is not a possibility from Kazakhstan, unfortunately.

This was written using space on the page rather than punctuation and I couldn't find out how to put it on my blog in the orriginal form. Lots to learn. Thanks for the wonderful words, my sweet!

Russell, I had some spacing in one line of the poem I just posted and blogger wouldn't recognize it. Oh well... How lost we can become and quickly saved by the flip of a switch. Another fine poem Russell!!!

Thanks Pat! The technology is still more my master than I am its. Glad you liked the poem, in spite of my lack of ability to present it in the form I planned. Thanks for the encouraging comment, my friend.

Thanks Don! I'm OK, just very busy. Semmester ends in a couple of weeks and I've got lots of grading to do to wrap up. Glad you enjoyed the poem; sonnets, I'm absolutely preoccupied with them. Thanks for the great comment.

Witty lines here, Russell, especially:

the regime of the joke
had laughed itself hollow

How are your students, doing very well under your tutelage, yes? ^_^ Oh, I miss the photos of you in your classes. I hope to see more. Cheers.

p.s.
Thank you for the comment on "Hindsight" -- I've tucked it away again, for personal reasons. Let's just say I'd rather not tempt certain memories. Heh. Know that I truly appreciate the visits. *hug*

Hey soulless, thanks for those words. I really enjoyed your new poem. I see we have both been looking at walls, from time to time.

There will be a whole new rogues gallery by the third week in January. Would you like to be my student? I bet you would do very well indeed.

Thanks for all those wonderful words and big hugs to you, my sweet.
