Myths

Can you set the sky right?
Beowulf could. Can you avoid the
Temptation to take advantage of what you know?
Doc Brown could (most of the time).

Can we save humanity from panic
And keep their ignorance intact?
J and K could no matter how many
Bugs came for a killing spree.

Can Neo come to understand
And save us from our slavery?
With love enough, of course.
All you have to be is a good person.

Can I learn to be a good poet?
Can Sisyphus roll a rock?

mentioning neo from the matrix is the kind of bare faced affrontry i like. mighty fine stuff.

Thanks CJ! Lots of affrontry in this piece (if you add Men in Black and Back to the Future). Glad it was a good read. Lots of myths to roll around here.

Hi sweety! Glad you came by and thanks for the great comment. I've had no time lately to get into the kitchen. Hope that will ease up just a bit! Hugs to you too!

Thanks Sue! Glad you caught my sardonic humor. Don't we write some hopeless crap in our attempt to pen poems.

If we worried about how good something would be before we wrote it we would never write anything. I think thats why some people get writer's block, their ideals are so high it blocks their creativity. I write down everything all the time sometimes I hate something at the time but much later I realise it was the best thought I had and it turns into a poem maybe in one case 17 years later, sometimes not. Sometimes I love something and the next time I read it I hate it or I pick up on many flaws. I revise things even If they've been published I'm constantly changing my mind about 'the right words in the right order' (a quote I can't remember whose) But never dismiss any ideas or attempts as crap they're just work in progress.

Thanks Sue! I'm a continuous jotter downer type person too. I'm always open in case something miraculous might suddenly appear.

If you fancy yourself the artist and have attempted - however lowly you may think that attempt may be - to hone in your craft, then an artist you probably are. Bottom line: some will thoroughly enjoy what you write - others will think it absolute drivel. If the criticism comes with an ounce of explanation, then perhaps it deserves further consideration, as a means of further improving one's art. But there is no need to ponder the lack of depth in a comment like "This is terrible!" because frankly, such narrow minded reflection is usually the product of an evil mind and jealous heart.

Thanks Nick. I think by honestly intending we become what we try to do.
