alone

(for Debbie)

i have a day
i thought was lost

you were in the mirror
when i looked the first time
after that you were gone

everyone knows
they don't want
to be alone
to know the tragedy

that life is
when it is
theirs alone

mine was about yours
until i got our pronoun right

The emotional pull in this is strong. Makes me sad, by way of empathy.

And, oh, that stanza-break between the third and the fourth stanzas, I relish its effect.

You've been missed, dear. Hope all is well. Cheers.

So deeply sad and with an emotion that resonates for me.
Wonderful is woeful.

Don't ever listen to that naughty word verification thing, Sue. I glad you are not easily offended.

Alone is a four letter word spelled with five. Love the last line.

Thanks a lot Pat. Great to hear from you, my old friend! Yes, of course, sometimes the number of letters just doesn't count and we simply understand the word immediately.
