Jilly’s Celebration

Wild haired in the dawn;
It’s not about me.
Saw mill bandits
Still cutting logs.
Cat dance near the sleeping dog,
Growls chasing dreams away.

Do they run, do da!
Horse hair dawn streaks,
Brilliant fur on the horizon of day.

Night grows in anticipation;
Night grows on a cake from the store,
Puffs of steam from sizzling stones.

The gig is done, midnight is noon;
Happy birthday, Happy Anniversary!

Whatever the celebrations, it comes out alive! I could see the vivid images!

Love the contrast between the slow start and the faster last stanza, yes very visual

Thanks gautami tripathy! Glad you enjoyed it. Yesterday Jilly Dybka (of Poetry Hut) combined her wedding anniversary and birthday into a celebration.

Hi Sue! Glad you enjoyed this. I've never written a sonnet like this before (6,3,3,2). It was very interesting. Glad it worked and thanks for the nice comment!
