Sweeping the Dawn Sky

Sweeping the dawn sky
with large, black wings,
crow lands at
very top.

Tree, celebrating,
throws yellow confetti.

Old man clinking
glass bodies
dead of last nights laughter.

Trash being tidied
on faded asphalt
scruffy piles.

Black cat
watches below the trees.

Time stands still

but will start
with children to fro'
in iron chairs.

The 55 word poem is certainly catching interest on the blog - I too love the imagery!! May I ask why 55 words?

Thanks for the lovely comment, Nicole! I don't know what brought all this on. It was just a challenge we all read on .:A:.'s blog and felt like giving it a try. Click on English August on my list of links and check it out. You should try writing one!

Ah Ha. Having left a comment on Gulnaz's blog but in reality I missed the point and then I come here and all becomes clear.
Is this a new mutant form of poetry? A bit like Haiku but longer?
Great whatever, and I thought I could see you Russell putting out the empties into the trash. Really good.

Thanks CJ! There are breathless moments where time just seems to have gone immobile and .:A:.s crazy challenge just seem to be a good place to give that an expression. He's a mad lad, you know, clever but absolutely mad (which is probably why we all get on with him so well)!

Oh and yes, CJ, that little viginette was a bit Hitchcockesque I suppose!
