Road Show

Planes and airports
the next two days -
that travel has grown discomfort
like the skin of a giant snake,
that my students are waiting,
soon from my office there
I'll sit at the computer
and answer comments
after the snake has shed.

Great analogy!

I've just completed about twenty tanka, all on the topic of travelling, and I've got a few more on Arizona. Seems you and I have been covering the same topics lately. :)

Safe travel. You do cover a lot of ground when you travel.

Thanks gautami tripathy! The idea seems to work very well poetically. Thanks (from Amsterdam on a layover) for the great comment.

Thanks Aurora! Yes it sounds as if we've rather been on the same themes lately. Thanks for the great comment and I'd love to see those poems - tell me where I can read them.

Thanks Pat! I'm in Amsterdam now for a bit of a layover but will be in Kazakhstan soon. You're right, each of these trips covers about half the globe. I waved when I flew near Georgia but I was kind of far up in the sky at the time.

Hi Russell: My work is maining appearing in print publications now. The specific tanka I am referring to appear, or are slated to appear, in red lights, and Ribbons.

Thanks Aurora! It is good to know where we can find your works in print. It seems that electronic publishing and printed material are two different worlds, Therefore, it is increasingly important to be in both to reach a full audience. Thanks for getting back to me with that information!

Russell, tanka is becoming increasingly popular, and as this increases, so do print publications. Should you ever be interested in writing and submitting tanka, give me a shout and I'll send you a list of these publications. They're among my favourite reading material.

Thanks Aurora! I have noticed this surge in interest. So far I have restricted myself to haiku, senyru, and haibun but hope to expand those vistas in a month or two when the semmester quiets down. As per the interest, tanka is next on my list. We'll be in touch! Thanks for the assistance, my sweet.
