HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY!

Woman

There is the darkness
and the light -
you are gracious.

There is time –
in your presence
it has flesh, length.

Sound becomes melody,
poetry.
Poetry becomes
intoxicated words
that are our escape,
our hope -

the mythology of our hearts
is the whisper of your name.

Thanks Aurora! In the regions that were formerly part of the Soviet Union this is still a very popular holiday. I'm glad it has persisted. I'm also glad you enjoyed my humble tribute, my sweet. It is a woman like you that makes a day like this so special.

Hi Nasra! This was a really big holiday in the former Soviet Union. It is still very popular in Kazakhstan. Any country that has you in it should be celebrating, my sweet! Glad you liked the poem.

Your poetry flows, almost effortlessly. Like water running its natural course, over rocks and sand - through Nature's most amazing display of "I exist."

Thanks Sue! That brings to mind the old e.e. cummings classic: "candy is dandy/ but liquor is quicker." Thanks for the comment (you're so funny).
