scholarship

quietly in the morning
the silence is ownable
your eyes watching me
your laughter
the way your attention
stalked my hours
were not
still there is not a moment
I would change

so I sit
pretending life
marches like a tea cup
that there never really was
any color to sunlight
and that one day
is just as the next
at the office

This gives me a feeling of no change..the following words say as much..

I had this feeling a few days back. But made myself think otherwise. Sometimes the mind has to be nudged to forge ahead if it does not do so all by its own.

BTW, Russell, I really hate being called GST. You are only one in the blog world who does so as I never told you about it.I didn't have the heart to tell you so.Now I do. Call me gautami, call me tami but GST, GT, G...no!

I think there is a time for change and we all stand on the edge looking down; but when we're ready to jump we know it and it's irresistible.

Thanks Gautami! Sometimes life, for one reason or another, seems to become not really unchanging but more like rather uniformly bland. Simply put, some things can be nudged, other must be an entire shift of perspective.

Sorry about the initials, I had no idea there was a problem about them. Gautami is just fine with me.

Thanks Sue! You're right of course. That edge looks scary most of the time but there are special periods of one's life when jumping over the edge is the most natural thing to do, in fact, the only thing you wish to do. It is, as you so correctly said it, irresistible. Thanks for the great comment.

Change is inevitable, not always welcome, but natural as rain. "that there never really was
any color to sunlight", fantastic line!!

Hi Pat! Yes, there is no stopping change. Glad you enjoyed those lines! Thanks for that fine comment, my friend.

Hmm... I was thinking an office flirtation and maybe never acted on. I guess I'm going out on a limb here because I see I'm all alone with this interpretation!

Thanks Nasra! I'm glad this poem found a spot in you to touch. Ah love, it is such a wonderful feeling! Thanks for the wonderful comment, sweet one.

Thanks Paul. Spellbinding love is such an overwhelming sensation. What is left to do after such an uncompromising experience? In its absence we go to the office and measure out our lives in teaspoons, as Elliot put it. Thanks for taking the time to speculate and leaving it as a great comment.
