samolote

soon i will take to the skies
my face – in muted cabin light
a pale offering upturned and spent
on bad things and duty free

the silence hiss and rumbling
is kept away
with headphones
and personal screens

talking and singing arms
wrap around me tightly
hold the lonely
and the bored

have embraced me away
and have brought me back

I'd like one "get-away-from-it-all" ticket, too, please. ;) One of these days, I'm going to pay another visit to the convent in the mountains (the one I visited a decade ago and wrote about), for a much-desired (hopefully, a much-deserved) renewal.

I sent a note to my travel agent to reserve one for you. Hi sweet soulless. It is great to see you - I am very happy! If they have a convention booked at the convent, I could provide you with the endless steppe (knee deep in snow), some sturdy Central Asian horses, a snowy yurt with an open wood fire burning in the center, hot tea from the samovar - how does that sound? Quiet is printed in white from here through Siberia, even the wind wispers.

Thanks for that wonderful comment, my sweet!

I really like this. And a convent sounds good to me about now, too:-)

Thanks sweet Pris! Glad to have you on board. It sounds like a case of holiday blues to me. They don't celebrate Christmas here and its absence is an interesting phenomenon. Thanks for those nice words and, anyway, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
