I forgot to say - I also enjoyed your poetry very much. I think the one about the wolf pup is my favorite, but I may be partial just because I recently read a lot of the Julie of the Wolves books for my adolescent literature class. I will definitely be back to read some more!

Hi jadedprimadonna! The Clemson piece is a beautiful and interesting work of art and love! It really deserves to be paid attention to! Thanks for all your nice comments on my stuff. Glad you enjoyed the poems. There really is a lot of wonderful poetry floating around on the web. Glad you liked the Wolf Pups; it touched a spot for me that I thought might be there for most of us. Looking forward to reading more of your blog too!

Hi angel-a! Yeah, my dachas are high in the mountains. I don't have a banya built yet on mine but my old friend Vitaly Romanich has a wonderful banya I can use whenever I want! This is the only place on earth where I can truely relax, so heaven is peobably not to far from the truth!

I so appreciate you comments on my prose! I try to be as honest as is humanly possible about how I feel and I am intensely glad that this has touched something resonant in you as you read it!

Thank you for taking the time to look through my archives. I'm glad you visited me, hope you will do so often, and I value your comments very much!

Sure, Russell - feel free to post a link. In fact, I was going to ask you if I could post a link to you.=o)

Hi Laura! My dacha is a small orchard of about 35 trees (mostly apple, pear, and plum). The samovar is wood burning, hence the need occasionally for that little chimney that you see in the picture. Because it smokes, it is used mostly in the yard. I set a table among the trees for tea (this is common to see in the dachas of the fomrmer Soviet Union). I thought of you when I posted this picture; I'm glad you came to join me for tea!

Hi angel-A! There are no rules here about length of post and yours are just fine -- wonderful in fact! Yes, you are right about two distinctly different states of my conscious between the writing of prose and poetry. Passion must be present in both states or the writing will have no wattage, so to speak (or should I throw that extra r in and say 'so to spark'). Broadly speaking, in one state I am excited about an insight that is intellectual in nature and that becomes prose. In another state I find myself excited about something that is also a realization about something but it seems to come wrapped in some metaphorical relationship to an event and/or enviroment that I can physically describe and that becomes a poem!
I'm so glad that you come here to comment and share the beauty and quality of your thoughts!

An interesting blog. A chef, eh? Recipes. Lovely poems. Exotic pics.

Think I'll stick around.

Russell Ragsdale said...

Roger, please do! It is my humble world and I welcome you to it!

Hi angel-a! Your words coat my life viscidly with their beauty! That you reflected here and it added meaning to your day, renders my being here an honor and a priviledge. Without you, that which wishes to spread light would only be sitting in darkness! Therefore, thank you!

It is my honour to reword your thank you to:

Hi my dear samovar! You coat my life viscidly with your beauty! That you are reflected here and it added meaning to our days, renders our being here an honor and a priviledge. Without you, that which wishes to spread light would only be sitting in darkness!
Without TEA.
Therefore, thank you!

Hi angel-a! The kindness and quality of your words touches me deeply!

Hi angel-a! Yes, I know who wrote that but I am also aware of somebody very nice who has done a little job of redirecting that text to a different object. That is a really neat compliment, hence the thankyou!

Sticking around - and waiting for a new update.

So - guests are coming to supper - what would be your top five favourite recipes?
