It seems late to me.
I know it is after that time
when the last rocket of day
sputtered past the horizon
and was gone.
Late is now defined by
how much it is past
that moment the diamond
fell from your eye.
It is late but not very late
still it is past the moment
where I am who I was
and I no longer know
who got trapped in
this glass in front of me.
I feel sorry for him
like a brother who cares
for a fellow victim.
I can’t console him,
I barely have the strength
to even watch.
It is late.

Darth are we reaching back to the light side of the Force?? Excellent poem!! I think an imposter kidnapped my mirror image.
Hi Pat It's just me, kindly, lovable, old Dr. D. When you polish up a black '63 Vette it gets all shiny and bright! See, what a small world it is, we're on the same side after all! Seriously, Pat, thanks for the great comment!
How do you do? I've just started my blog about Japanese culture arts. I appriciate if you link to my site since I would like many people to know Japanese culture. Thank you!
This is excellent, Russell. There is beauty in the somberness. Well done.
Thanks Aurora, I just was trying to catch the beauty of the human spirit, even in a moment of adversity. Thanks for the great comment.
Hi ichiro! You have an interesting blog, I enjoyed visiting it. Best of luckmy young friend.
I completely relate to this!
But then I relate to most of your works. Amazing!
It is too late sometimes, so carpe diem, seize the momentby writing a poem and then it is never too late.
Thanks gautami tripathy! I am glad to have the considerable benefit of your attention. Thanks for the great comment!
Thanks plus ultra! Interesting concept - it is never too late to be always too late. Your comments, always much appreciated, seem to customarily contain something unusual. Thanks a lot!
"and I no longer know
who got trapped in
this glass in front of me"
I friggin' love it. Seriously great words here.
Who da man?
You da man!
Wow Ozy, thanks! You are the wizard of comments, Ozy. You have transported me to a magical place.
"It seems late to me.
I know it is after that time
when the last rocket of day
sputtered past the horizon
and was gone."
I loved these lines. The poem is at a lower tone, and it seems to be about someone who is regretting life passing by too quickly. That is how I read it but I know poets often have a different meaning entirely.
You captured the mood well and I also like the diamonds falling from the eye. Quite an image :-)
Thanks m.shahin! I'm glad you found some things here to take with you. This tone seemd necessary to carry the poem. Thanks for the wonderful comments!
It is strange isn't it that no matter how old you get there's still the same young person inside looking out and saying who is that grown up person not me, I don't feel like a grown up, hope I never do-perhapse you have to be very young indeed to feel grown up-but time usually cures that-a seriously wonderful poem.
Thanks Sue! I know what you mean! Thanks for the great comments.
'the moment the diamond fell from your eye...' gorgeous image--i also relate to this poem--nicely done
Thank you Madame B! The warm words are much appreciated. Thanks for the wonderful comment.
